Exchange user receiving delivery errors for emails not sent by user.

Asked by Aluwishus in Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)

Tags: Microsoft, Exchange, 2003, Receiving replies from emails not sent.

We have a user receiving delivery admin errors from different entities on the net and these initial emails did not originate from the user.

We are using windows small business server 2003 w/exchange 2003.  i've change the smtp permissions to deny annom' smtp request and to only receive submittals from authenticated users.

Watching the smtp server que reveals no unauthorized relaying.  Is it possible that an external entity is maliciously using this users email address to send mass emails that will send these responses to our domain/exchange?Start Free Trial
