I recently bought a Xerox Phaser 6180MFP-D copier. There were no problems configuring it and getting it on the network. But when I tried to configure it's Email Server via the web interface (CentreWare Internet Services), I could not get it to connect to our SMTP server. When configuring the Email Server on the Phaser 6180MFP-D it gives you these options:
(Filling in the blanks with examples)
Return Email Address: copier@domain.local
SMTP Server Address: serv.domain.local
SMTP Server Port Number: 25 (25, 5000 - 65535)
Email Send Authentication: Invalid (drop down menu; Invalid, POP before SMTP (plain), POP before SMTP (APOP), SMTP AUTH (plain), SMTP AUTH (login), SMTP AUTH (CRAM-MD5), SMTP AUTH (AUTO))
Login Name: copier
Password: *******
SMTP Server Connection Status: Not Connected
The Help file says this about the Not Connected part:
Not connected - The status after the email port has been activated and before the first email transmission (SMTP)/reception (POP3) starts.
The account for the copier is mail/mailbox enabled. For the server address, you can use the IP address or the FQDN. I have tried using both. I have tried all of the different types of authentication. I can ping the copier from the SMTP server. I have sent test emails to that account. Nothing that I tried has seemed to work with configuring the Email Server.
Also, POP3 is disabled on the exchange server, so I have not tried configuring their POP3 settings.
