The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

FTP Folder Error

Asked by nvrkakarla in File Transfer Protocol (FTP), Windows 2003 Server, FTP Servers

Hi All,
Could someone please advise me on this issue!

We have a problem with the FTP access on one of our hosted servers. We actually have 3 servers in the hosted environment and the FTP works fine on two of them. The FTP was working fine on the third servre until recently it started giving this wiered error messag:

FTP Folder Error
Windows cannot access this folder. Makesure you typed the filename correctly and that you have permission to access the folder.
Details:
The connection with server was reset.

This error started when we have enabeld the anonymous acess on a website which was in this server. We have also confirmed from the hosting company that port 21 is open for FTP access. Also, the FTP is working on the other two servers which are in the same local area network in the hosting company.

For security reasons, we have stopped the default FTP Site and created our own. This was working fine since 6 months until recently this error started showing up. When we remotely login into this server---> go to IIS ---> expand the FTP sites----->right click on our FTP site and click on browse, it works fine (I mean it challenges for username and password and then it shows the contents of the folder).

Also the hosting company says that when they tried a debus on this server, they are recieving TCP resets and they feel that the FTP service is not configured properly.

Could someone please suggest how to resolve this issue.

Thanks.
