The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

In chapter's 7 example AC_FTP client WSA_ASYNC message handler, I can't figure out
how the iNextRply variable is used to handle partial reads of ftp replies as the author
have indicated in the book.

Questions:
1- Does anyone know if this  code have been updated by the author. I checked the site
http://www.sockets.com  but I cannot download the sample application from the ftp
     server, it always errors out.
2- If the code is correct  can you please explain how the iNextRply is being used.

I tried to download the example app, but it requires a login and password.

We cannot know anything about what is happening there, given just that snippett of code.

Thanks DanRollins for attempting the download from that site, I couldn't either. I was hoping
to get an updated version of the program that came with the book in case the floppys example is missing additional code.

I am attaching the files of the example that came with the book, hope you can have a look at it. When I was compiling the program I searched for other references for the iNextRply variable and could not see any other except in the piece of code I posted earlier.

It appears that that is the only place iNextReply is used.

iNextReply is the location (offset) into the reply string that is one byte after the last byte that has been processed.  Thus, it is the position to continue processing.

I'm not particularly impressed with the code.  It uses global variables (such as iNextReply) and does not initialize them.
