FTP

Asked by cai_bird in KornShell (ksh), File Transfer Protocol (FTP), Unix Operating Systems

I would like to establish an automated process of file transfer from a remote server.

There are new files downloaded daily to the same directory on a remote server, where I would like to only pick the new files to transfer.

I was thinking about creating a cron job on the local server to ftp the files, but how can I only select the newly downloaded of the day to FTP? What happen if a file is being downloaded while the FTP cron job starts?

Both the remote and local servers are running unix.

Any suggestions would be very much welcome.

Thanks in advance.
