AJAX Frontend to IRC Chat

I am looking for a open source software that uses ajax to connect people to a IRC server, from a webpage.

The only software I have found to do this so far is: http://www.mibbit.com/ but the source code is not public.

@alain34,

no the problem with most of the existing solutions out there (like webirc) is that they require the end-user to have java installed. Java is clunky and requirer's multiple popup boxes, as well as the user to actually make a connection to the port (many are behind restrictive firewalls).

Hi,

Have you considered CGI:IRC (http://cgiirc.sf.net) which requires only a browser at the user side, it runs as CGI scripts which connect to the ircd.
