Connecting to exchange using pop3 and SSL
I have an exchange 2003 front end / back end setup. I can connect to exchange using pop3 through port 110 (the default) perfectly. When I switch to SSL and try to go through port 443 I cant connect. I have verified that port 443 is open. Is there any other settings that may stop this connection from happening?
Secure POP (SSL POP) uses port number 995 and not 443, which is https.
Secure SMTP and Secure POP3 is supported via the "alternate port" as follows:
Secure SMTP Port: 465
Secure POP3 Port: 995
Secure IMAP Port: 993
The other settings should be the same as the normal email settings.
You may receive the certificate name mismatch warning. It can be safely ignored.
