Hello. I have a big problem and can't find much of any information on the events that I am seeing. This started about 1 month ago. We have two domain controllers, one of which has DHCP installed and is servicing clients. About every 4-8 days the DHCP service crashes and stops handing out IP's to clients. The only thing that fixes the problem is a reboot of the DC ( which really puts us at a stand still during office hours). I have gone through the event logs and the only error that shows up when this occurs is in the Application log.
Error: Faulting application tcpsvcs.exe, version 5.2.3790.0, faulting module dhcpssvc.dll, version 5.2.3790.0, fault address 0x00026798.
So originally I though this could be a problem with the network card on the server but after looking through the dhcp server logs, that does not look to be the cause. When this happens and I look at the dhcp logs, it shows one client constantly requesting a DNS updates (like hundreds of times a minute). So I figured it might be a bad network card in the client itself. I changed it out and things were ok for a few days and then the same error happened but with hundreds of requests from a *different* client machine. I really dont' think this has anything to do with the servers NIC as I am able to connect to the server fine when the dhcp service crashes.
I have done a LOT of research which has turned up nothing!!! Please help!
