The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

can not remove superscope form DHCP

Tags: version, hang, application, dhcp, superscope
HI all,

I have a windows 2003 cluster and DHCP is in cluster mode.
I have 2 remote sites

head quater: 192.168.10.x/24
remote site 1: 192.168.11.x/24
remote site 2 192.168.12.x/24

both remote site are connected with a lease line to the head quater.

my dhcp is giving addresses to all sites.
when I create my dhcp I made a mistake. I create a super scope and then I create my 3 network range (192.168.10, 11 and 12)

after a few weeks, I found that the superscope was a problem so I just right click on all scopes and select "remove from super scope" and everyting is going fine.

BUT, when the DHCP service is restarting (cluster faild over, server reboot, service restart), every scope return in the superscope. it does not seems to save the configuration

when I right click my DHCP server, and select "restart" I receive the error message: not unough storage is available to complete this operation

and the hard disk with the DHCP database that is associated with my dhcp cluster group has 16Go free in event viewer I only have "application hang" event id (101)
Hanging application mmc.exe, version 5.2.3790.3959, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.

Is uninstalling DHCP and reinstalling it a option for you?  If yes, that should resolve this.  But you need to configure your DHCP again.
Accepted Solution

I can not do this...
I will lost all IP lease for all sites and also for all VOIP phone... I have over 1000 users

I know there is a way to backup the dhcp database. it can be a solution.
if no body have a beter solution, I will have to restart my DHCP

but if I backup the DHCP database, will I also backup and restore my problem ?

I know I can backup my DHCP, uninstall DHCP service, reboot, re-install dhcp and retore DHCP database

but, will I backup my superscope problem too?

ok, it seems to be way more complicated than I expect...

DHCP is installed in cluster. (node 2 is the owner)
So I backup the DHCP database (action, backup), it works
the I take the DHCP group and "take offline"
on node 1, I uninstalled DHCP, re-install DHCP
start DHCP console
add a new server (put the IP of the server, nothing to do with cluster)
I now have a DHCP running on this server in "local mode"
the I select action, restore, select my DHCP backup
I reveive a message saying that service has to restart to complet the operation. click ok.
then again: not unough storage is available to complete this operation
DHCP console freeze
then, don't know why, the cluster DHCP restart...
