I gave a local computer (windows XP professional) a static IP address via TCP/IP Properties tab in network connection. I did this a few weeks ago and all of a sudden the IP address was no longer working ...
I only assigened the IP this on the local machine and not the domain controller which is our DHCP server.
After the weekend, I was able to assign the same static IP address on the local machine but I want to ensure that it keeps the static IP address that I assigned it locally.
Is there a way to assign it an IP address without going through the reservations in DHCP?
How can i ensure that it keeps that static ip address ?
The only reservations that are in DHCP are for our network printers and servers
The domain controller is running server 2003 service pack 1
