Hi All,
Our network has recently been changed to include subnets which has ultimately killed our ability to contact the PXE Server from the client machines. I've been adding options to the DHCP server (Win2k3) to redirect clients to the PXE Server but due to my limited knowledge in the area I have hit a snag with Option 43.
Could anyone give me a crash course into what the information in this option should look like it's all jibberish to me. Our PXE Sever IP is 10.33.8.45
One other little strange thing is that if I add Option 60 ("PXEClient") One type of machine we have on our network starts working however it then prevents all other machines from recieving an IP.
Any help would be great
Thanks
Other Info: Our DHCP & PXE Server are seperate (no there is no chance of having it combined) DHCP IP = 10.33.8.41 & 8.51
Have a look at one of these documents (chapter 5.1.3). The option is dependend on the vendor. However I have found that you can use this description in general, especially to understand what is going on while booting via PXE.
I also remember they have a knowlegdebase article that describes dhcp option 128 and 129. However this one is only available in german language. (With 129 you can define an ip-address of the gateway toward the dhcp server).
