changing or forwarding ports on ICS

Tags: win XP pro sp2, ICS, xp pro, linksys, wireless router, WRT54G
here is my setup. my wireless router is upstairs with my modem, it can't be moved. my desktop pc is downstairs. connected through a wireless card (linksys card and router 54g) excellent signal strength. i then have my xbox 360 gaming system connected to the computer using a network cable. (hard wired). i am using ICS (internet connection sharing) to send the wireless internet to the wired nic card. now here is the problem. i can connect to xbox live just fine. the ip dns mtu everything is good. i can download games pics etc. BUT i cant do anything on the movie side. i called xbox support and they said that since my NAT is testing moderate that it is restricting access. i need OPEN NAT. so they told me to open ports UDP 88 and 3074 UDP and TCP. ok fine. easy enough. the tricky part is. ICS is assigning a 192.168.0.xxx address to the xbox. but the linksys router config page only lets you open ports on a 192.168.1.xxx address. i tried (without thinking) changing the router to match the ics address. but cant have internet connected while xbox is on. is there a way to change the ICS auto ip address in the registry to let me open the ports i need on the 192.168.0.xxx side. please help. thank you very much for your time.

The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.
