We have been asked to attend to some network issues in a company with 15 PCs. These PCs are split between 3 buildings. All PCs should be able to access the internet through a single modem plus router. All PCs have a fixed IP Address. In one of the buildings one and sometimes 2 of the PCs report an IP Address conflict - but not always. We have checked the IP Addresses of all PCs in the network and there do not appear to be any conflicts as far as we can see. All PCs have a single network card. Some PCs have a single IP Address, some 2 and some 3. Some seem to have more than one default gateway. As an example, this afternoon one of the 'offending PCs' showed an IP address conflict (which resulted in Internet access being lost). We re-started the PC and it no longer showed a conflict and access to the internet was restored. Any ideas?
