We are currently trying to set up a new DHCP server to replace our old one. The new server is an IBM x3650 with Windows Server 2008 installed on it, whereas the old server had Windows Server 2003 on it. I tried mgrating the existing scopes using DHCPEXIM, but when I checked under the DHCP tool on the new server, only the scopes showed, and I was unable to lease any addresses. When I managed the 2008 server using the old server, everything showed up (but still, no leases). I shut down the old server, so the clients are forced to go to the new server to find DHCP, with no success.
I've since deleted all of the migrated scopes, uninstalled and re-installed the DHCP Server service (twice) and created scopes manually. Still nothing. It doesn't push out any IPs. I've looked in the event viewer under DHCP, and there are no messages of any type (shouldn't there at least be a "DHCP service started" message?). Also, the registry area (HKEY_Local_Machine\Softwa
re\Microso
ft\DhcpSer
ver\Config
uration\Su
bnets\) where you would normally find things set up, there's nothing (unless, of course, 2008 doesn't use that key? I'm fairly new to the whole Server 2008).
I'm not sure what I'm missing here. Any pointers?
The new server has already been promoted to domain controller, and is functioning as a DNS server (I've tested, and found the DNS to be in working condition).
