Hi Guys,
a little while ago I took over a network, and am trying to work through some problems that showed up. The one I am refering to is with the way the router deals with the IP pools for the end user. Currently it is done through static DHCP, and client identifiers. The problem I ran into was that regardless of what MAC address was in the end users ip pool, they could enter in any ip address in the subnet, and gain internet access, and potentially cause an ip conflict with another user.
Is there a way to restrict the user to pulling the ip address they are suposed to regardless of what the enter in statically into their pc?
On the same note, (I am sure this isn't possible, but thought I would ask anyway) is there a way to tell if the user pulled the ip address in the ip pool because the MAC address of their pc was in their ip pool; or if they pulled it because they entered it in statically into their pc?
Thanks,
