The Solution Rating System
|
|
| With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating. - The Grade of the Solution
- The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
- The Number of Author and Expert Comments
- The Number of Experts Contributing
- The Feedback of the Community
Your Input Matters Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site. If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support. Thank you! |

Asked by forums712 in Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Virtual Private Networking (VPN)
Hello all,
I have a single Windows domain with 2 DC's and a member server. Server A is Server 2003 64bit as a DC with all FSMO roles hosting AD, DHCP, DNS and file and print sharing. It is also running an app with SQL 2005 installed. Server B is a Server 2003 32bit as DC for print sharing and one file share. It has DHCP running but scope deactivated and DNS running. Server C is a member server running Server 2003 32bit as the SQL 2005 server.
What has happened is the DHCP service on Server A all of a sudden stopped handing out IP's to clients. Now the service is up and running and the scopes look fine. The range is way over the amount of PC's available and plenty of available IP's and there are still leases in the Address Leases. Now what happened was that all of a sudden one PC dropped its lease and could not get a network address any longer. After troubleshooting for hours, another machine dropped. This then led me to believe an Ip problem on the PC. So I manually added IP's and sure enough the machines got on the network. So far of the 15 machines, 3 have dropped and manually put IP's in. The others seem to be fine but I am sure they will stop dropping one by one.
The last thing I did was run windows Updates but reversed those and uninstalled them. I have had 2 consultants look and cannot find the root of the problem. we have restarted services, deactivated the scope and still nothing. the server is a Dell PE 2950 with Broadcom Team. I even broke the team to see if that was the issue and still nothing. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks,
Jimmy
