The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

DNS Error - Cannot Find Server (only ONE website/IP and only in my network, rest of internet OK ;-)

I am working on a website, and today for some reason I have started to get "Cannot Find Server, or DNS Error" when opening the page in Internet Explorer on XP Home.
I opened the page successfully yesterday. FTP and  emails are not working either. I can ping the IP address.

I have no other problems with any other web pages, ftp sites etc.  I have tried sites I have never visited before.  I have confirmed that I can see sites hosted with the same company.

I've asked my friends and contacts to try the site and they can all open the webpage without any problems.

The hosting company has run tests and there is no problem at their end.

I have two computers on this network, both XP home. None of them can see the site.

I am sitting behind a NTL cable modem and netgear wireless router, with a secure but flat configuration, there's no restrictions on the router, and it is configured to be issued with DNS server addresses dynamically.  DNS requests are passing through the router correctly, and the IP address I am receiving is correct.

What is happening?

Just in case you ask, and even though this condition exists on two separate workstations - my network settings on *this workstation* have not changed and as far as I can remember I have not installed or changed any settings since I was looking at the site yesterday.

------ This very similar question has been submitted on EE before (I have used the original wording by "siliconbrit" and changed to suit my situation) and solution was to contact the ISP. But I have spoken to my ISP and they have asked me to try accessing the website via a proxy server (which was not possible) and the ISP told me the hosting company should check the DNS settings. I am technical to an extent.

It is very frustrating as I have alot of work need doing and deadlines but I cannot even access my own website.
