Manually Change DNS records to redirect to a website
Hey experts,
This is a Windows 2003 domain enviroment w/ DNS running local.
The person who setup this domain gave the domain name a .com extension, ex: example.com (instead of example.local etc etc)
Internal users cannot access their external web server (http://example.com). They are being redirected back to the local IIS. There is no entry in the DNS that directly points them back to the local IIS instead of the external website.
I assumed if I manually added an A record in the DNS pointing example.com to the external webserver it would automatically redirect them, but this appears to not be working as desired. When I test with NSLookup, it says its now pointing to the right site, but it still pulling the page from the local IIS in the webbrowser
What steps do I need to take to manually add record(s) in the DNS server to redirect users attempting to go to http://example.com to external webserver.
