Iterate through Microsoft DNS server zones
We host over 2000 domains and DNS zones for them.
Most of our DNS records are set up exactly the same way for our clients, however several of them have custom DNS settings.
We never recorded who had what settings.
I would like to be able to iterate through all the DNS zones and then save all the individual Zone Records, such as A, MX, FTP, etc to a database.
This way, when I migrate DNS servers or do mass scripting changes, it would be easy to recreate these zones, without overwriting the custom ones.
How can I do this please? I have experience using DNSCMD.exe

The records within the zone are held in Zone Files, you can't take a copy of the Zone Files? They're held in %SystemRoot%\System32\DNS\
