If you go to run, and enter dnsmgmt.msc. Click on your server -> forward lookup zones -> your domain. Right click on your domain and left click on add host. THis will allow you to enter raslo and enter the associated IP address. If you are running AD, it should probably already be in there. As far as VPN users and blocked internet users, that depends on how they're configured and what you're using. If you are using a imaginary proxy within internet explorer, simply selecting allow intranet connections should do the trick.
I did this, but there are two machines on the network, one of which is on a different subnet, cannot get to the site by name. If I type in IP, it works. But I'd like to allow the user to get to it by name.
The other machine is using external DNS entries. He says that our intranet settings should work
even with his external DNS entries, but I'm not sure. At the bare minimum what would he need to be able to get to http://raslo (to get to our intranet page)/? Thanks.
HOSTS files were suggested as a solution along with using the FQDN htt://raslo.ra-slo.com, but shouldn't we be able to just ype "raslo" or http://raslo and be able to pull up the intranet page? I've adjusted the DNS entries, but no soap yet.
