DNS: Target account name incorrect when having two A or PTR records for the same IP.

Guys,

I have a disaster recovery test coming up and i need some urgent assistance.

I have 2 DNS servers in NY and 1 DNS server in NJ. The disaster recovery site is in NJ.

I have a server in NY that i need to failover to NJ.

The NY server's hostname is experts01. THe NJ server's hostname is drexperts01.

Right now they both have the same data replicating to each other. experts01 IP address is 192.168.25.1. drexperts01 ip address is 192.168.26.2.

We have a VPN connecting the sites and DNS is replicating.

I can access the shares on both sites by \\hostname.

What we plan to do is when we shut down the NY site for the DR test we want to log into the DR DNS server and change the A and PTR records for experts01 to point to the DR IP address 192.168.26.2 instead of 192.168.25.1.

When we do this we expect to be able to do \\experts01 in the DR site and get to the shares on drexperts01.

I tried a little test today and i got an error " Logon failure: the target account name is incorrect".

Is what i'm trying to do possible or is there something i'm missing when i change the records?

thanks
