i think this is really obvious, but can you double check you actually have a DNS server specified on the LAN adapter

I have two forests on the same virtual network. Each domain/forest has a DC with DNS pointing to itself for resolution.
For some reason I can't figure out why whenever I do an NSLOOKUP does it time out on the (whos authoritive for this search)).. It's lke it does not know it's authoritive for itself. It finds the name and IP of the record I'm looking for howver it gives me an error when typing in names.
C:\Documents and Settings\PROFILE>nslookup
DNS request timed out.
timeout was 2 seconds.
*** Can't find server name for address *************** Timed out
DNS request timed out.
timeout was 2 seconds.
*** Can't find server name for address ****************: Timed out
Default Server: DCSERVER.Microsoft.com
Address: ***********
I have the A record and the IP Address in the NS Record field. The SOA record is also there. DOes it need to be in multiple locations?
