DNS Round Robin Query
Hi,
I have a website that resides on four different servers, with each server being in a different data centre throughout the country (so 4 different IP's).
I have configured my dns 'a' records to point to each of these ip addresses and i have enabled dns round robin within the 'advanced' tab of windows server 2003 dns console.
What i want to know is, if one of my four servers was to fall over how can i prevent the dns server from giving out the ip of failed server?
Naturally i realise i could just remove the 'a' record manually but is there a way of doing this automatically?
Is the server clever enough to poll the individual IP's for a positive response before it provides the IP address of the site?
I hope that makes sense.
Thanks
