Browse All TopicsHi,
We have replaced our External DNS server. It was a standard Win 2003 server in our DMZ. We now use a 3DNS box to do our external DNS.
DNS is still active on it and I want to know if I can turn it off. I ran Network Monitor on the old server, and it shows DNS requests coming through from a Russian IP to the old DNS server.
'Std qry for . of type Auth. NS on class INET addr.'
The server then responds
'Server failure'
There doesn't seem to be any DNS requests coming from any other IP. Should it be ok to turn off DNS?
Any help appreciated

Yes, you can safely turn it off. Before you do so, make sure neither you or any of your customers are configured to use it for dns resolution.
