Backup Internet Connection DNS won't resolve internet addresses

I have a single server 2003 SBS domain environment.  The main internet connection is a T-1.  The workstations are given via DHCP a DNS IP address that matches the servers IP address.  On the server, in DNS management, servername, properties, forwarding, the actual ISP DNS addresses for the T-1 are listed.  This works fine.  

I have a backup SDSL line with its own router (same gateway IP as the T-1 router), with the idea being that when the T-1 goes down, you swap the wire from the T-1 router to the SDSL router and keep working. But when you hookup the SDSL line, you can't browse the internet.  So I added the DNS values from the SDSL ISP to the forwarding list.  Still nothing.

If I manually set the IP, gateway, and dns numbers on a laptop, and hook it directly to the router, it works fine.  Somehow, my server is not passing on the optional DNS info when the T-1 DNS numbers can't be found.  Any help would be appreciated...

Remove your ISP's DNS servers and place these in as your forwarders.

The T-1 router still works, the SDSL router doesn't.  When I swap routers so that the SDSL router is hooked to the network, I can ping the router, and I can ping a website like 74.125.67.100 (google).  But if I ping google.com, it times out.  Also nslookup google.com comes back with the message:

server4.trw.local
192.168.1.105
DNS request timed out

After I've hooked up the router, I opened a command prompt window on a workstation, ran ipconfig /flushdns, still nothing...  any ideas?

Have you reloaded the DNS zone? If you right-click DNS then reload zone does this fix the problem?

Perfect!!  Now I have my backup internet access as a plug and use solution...just have to remember to refresh the DNS zone when I swap the routers.  Thanks for your help!
