DNS errors 404 408

Hi Experts,

Attempting to solve a slow network issue I have now stuffed up the DNS server!!!
Would appreciate help on how to correct.

Following error received when attempting to access the DC  - Windows cannot access error code 0x80070035

IN the DNS event log - errors 404 & 408

This happened after I performed the below steps of a MS Forum
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please do as follows to remove the ‘::1’ DNS Server IP address:

1.    At a command prompt, type the following: netsh interface ipv6 show interfaces

2.    Make a note of the number shown in the Idx column of the output for your network adapter corresponding to the network adapter for which you wish to change DNS Server IP address.

3.    At the command prompt, type: netsh interface ipv6 delete dnsserver name="ID" address=::1 (Where ID is the number from step 2.)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 TIA

Andrew

I think when I went into networking porperties that was unchecked in my attempt to restore things back the way they were I rechecked  IPV6
Firewall is disabled (for the moment)

Forgot to throw in the topology

Windows 2012 Host (not in local domain)
DC and DNS on Server 2012 virtual (local domain)
Had another virtual setup for RDS for down the track installed DNS on that but that was rushed so maybe haven't go the settings right (local domain)

I also disable SMB1 & 2 on the server for troubleshooting purposes.

I have got the client going again by moving the docs to the host and creating static ip addresses and pointing DNS to the RDS server (for now).... short term solution but I do need to fix this asap though.

thanks

Ok still not the issue I disabled ipv6... going to install an Intel network card from one of my servers tomorrow and see how that goes...

Failing that going to redo the network with DHCP and start from scratch whatever step I did stuffed it right up above as no PC's can connect to the DHCP server.
