The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Hi All, I am trying to network an old game called M.A.X. Mechanized Assault and Exploration. I run the program in Dosbox to load it under Windows XP and when I click the Host or Join Network game from the Multiplayer menu i get the error message "network not available or IPX SOCKET not found ".

I use two laptops that are connected through wireless with a router (Zyxel prestige 600). Obviously I don't care wether I play the game over internet or LAN, as long as it works. Although, as far as I know, since it is such an old game it might be difficult to play over an internet network.

I have tried to open TCP/UDP ports on my router but I dont know which port(s) this game would be using.

I have established a Hamachi connection betwwen both the laptops, which worked, but nothing changed. I also installed the IPX protocol for the Hamachi network that also didnt help.

I have tried to load the IPX protocol in dosbox before running the game... but I dont really know how to do that - or if it is the right thing to do..

I have tried quite a few things already but, since I am not an expert, I dont know if it doesnt work because I didn't do it right or because I didnt do the right thing... (does that make sense?). As I said I am definetly not an expert but can generally find my way around and am good in following instructions..:)

Please help me, would be greatly appreciated. If anyone needs more info, please let me know. Thanks Simon
