Someone sent me a set of 33 little "cryptics" to solve. They all look like this:
7 D in a W - answer is 7 Days in a Week
or
3 B M (S H T R)- answer is 3 blind mice (see how they run)
or
Anyway I've got all but 2 of them. They are driving me nuts and I'll happily award 25 points EACH for the correct answers. The remaining two are:
23 P of C in the H B
and
13=UFS
The following insights may or may not help.
I suspect the questions may have come from South Africa as there were questions about cricket, rugby, and "9 P in S A", which turned out to be "9 provinces in South Africa". A few of the questions also had a biblical leaning, which has led me to think that the "H B" (above) might be "Holy Bible".
Final note - these little puzzles are presented in an Excel spreadsheet. You key in your answer and the word "TRUE" or "FALSE" appears in an adjoining cell. I only mention this because it is possible that you might offer an answer that sounds reasonable but which is unacceptable to the spreadsheet.
Final final note. I guess another (dishonourable) way to the answers would be to find where it is hidden in the spreadsheet. I guess there must be a hidden formula for each question to enable it to come up with the "True" or "False", but I don't know enough about Excel to unhide the formulas.
Really final note. 13=UFS is not "unlucky for some" or "unused floor space".
