The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Working with Java crop functionality

Asked by Steynsk in PHP and Databases, JavaScript, PHP Scripting Language

Hello Experts,
I am using a PHP application and would like to realize a small functional adaption to it. It is a genealogy program.
In the application you can upload photos and assign them to a person, family, or group of people. In the program you can also assign a default photo to a person. That will be used in case you generate reports.  In case you have only one picture of someone you are sometimes forced to crop out of a section of a larger picture. This works fine but in de query that shows all photos in the program you see a double pictures and is not space efficient.
This can be done more efficient by using a java crop script. With this kind of script you are able to select a region in a bigger picture and store the coordinates of that region (captured in a URL) in the db. And assign only that value as a default picture without saving a second partial copy of the larger one.
Ive been searching for this functionality that comes close and found it more or less in this functionality:

http://www.defusion.org.uk/demos/060519/cropper.php?demoType=preview&image=castle&formSubmit=Load+demo

It has an excellent user interface that works very intuitive.
But I am not very good in creating code. But can assemble if I have all the parts.
My EE question is:
Can someone please provide me(based on this code and UI) with the code that creates a URL  like the sample creates the preview. And a  basic viewer code that can show the part of the picture with the information stored in the URL?
Thanks,
Steynsk
