ipconfig returns questionable IP address

I have DSL with Bellsouth.   My modem is plugged directly into the wall.  When I do a 'ipconfig', why does the address that is returned to me NOT match my IP address?

For example, when I goto http://www.whatismyip.com.  The IP address returned is a valid Bellsouth IP address.

When I do an ipconfig, I get the IP address: 192.168.1.2 (which Network solutions says is a reserved IP address).

I'm thinking this may have something to do with my not being able to connect to my computer via Remote Desktop.Start Free Trial
