What does sessions, TX and RX peaks mean

Asked by donamaro in Networking Protocols, Network Routers

Using an ADSL Router and doing a diagnostics, we see that the traffic graph shows peaks at certain time of the day. It show peaks of the Sessions and another graph shows peaks in the Traffic (TX and RX).

Is there an easy but detailed explanation of what this means? And does this cause that the networks (with over 25 users) goes slow?
And is a few users shows these peaks .... what could be causing it?
And (last but not least) what can you do about it?
