The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. How do i find the bottleneck?

I have a private network that is experiencing "slowness" from the remote site.  The main location is less than one block from the remote site.  They moved a part of the office to another building within 3 mins. walk time.  

The main office is running 10.1.1.x windows 2000 advanced server with DHCP, DNS etc. for the main users.  The remote site was setup with a T1 point to point and a Allied Telesys router running DHCP for the users and the VOip phone system.  These same machines and people were in another building adjacent to the main office with a fiber connection before without issues.  Now they are one block away with the point to point and have complained from day one about the slowness of the connection to the server at the main location.  

Testing the length of time to open a word doc is 80 sec. sometimes they loose complete connection to the server during the work day.  

I have had the vendor that set it up replace the Allied Telesys router and have seem to solve the issue of loosing network connectivity.  Now if i can address the slowness on the data side somehow.

The router at the main office is 10.1.1.4
the server at the main office is 10.1.1.10
the phone system is 10.1.1.7 at the main office
the router at the remote is 10.2.1.4
the router at the remote site is running DHCP for the site. 10.2.1.x
I believe the vendor told me he used 192.168.1.x and 192.168.2.x for the end point of the T1.
