How to test far end user's Internet Connection - for troubleshooting VPN drops.

Hi Everyone,

I support three different VPN solutions, AEP, Nortel, and Cisco.  A common complaint from end users is VPN dropping unexpectedly.

It's always aggrevating for me to try to troubleshoot this - since often the user does not understand the difference between a stateful connection, such as VPN, and "my internet being fine" not knowing that their conneciton experienced a problem in between the last page download and their next click on link.

Are there any tools you use or can recommend, besides dslreports and other "speed test" sites, for testing the QUALITY of the connection - not just the bandwidth.  Either websites, built in tools, or software.
