I have one pc, we'll call it pc1, Windows XP SP1, that is unable to ping a pc that has a shared printer, pc2, also Windows XP SP1. pc1 can ping the file server and can ping the gateway and get out to the internet. I am unable to ping pc2 by name or ip address. I have added an entry to the host file on pc1. There is no firewall enabled on pc1 or on pc2. pc2 can not ping pc1. Other pc's on the workgroup can ping pc2, but can't ping pc1. All pc's are setup with static ip addresses. This just started recently. I have set DNS the same for all pc's and other pc's have no problems and can ping pc2, as stated before. The NIC on pc1 seems fine as I can get out to other resources, file server, internet, router gateway etc.
