ping localhost returns Reply from ::1: time<1ms

Ping to localhost was working but not now.
hosts file has an entry for 127.0.0.1 localhost
networks file also has an entry for localhost 127

following is the output

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>ping localhost

please try to run
ping -4 localhost

this looks like you have installed the ipv6 stack of network protocol:
