If a request times out, it means that your computer did not receive a response at all. It's the equivalent of calling someone and having the phone ring hundreds of times until you decide to give up. The Destination Host Unreachable message means that a router sent you back an error and is equivalent to a busy signal.

Request Time Out usually means that the other side is not available (down). It could also mean that you are not connected to your network for some reason. (Usually a problem with the client or Server or its settings)

Destination Unreachable usually means the routing is not correct for some reason. Either router misconfiguration or some router lost connectivity and your packets cant find their way to the final destination. (Usually a problem with a router or router setting)

Request time out means that the destination is reachable but there is no response received; for example, timeout for ping can be due bad configuration of routing back, due a firewall or simply because the destination has ping disabled.

Host not reachable is caused, as previously stated, by missing route to the host.

None of these answer were very helpful,

If i reboot my server and i have continues ping going to the server,

it goes in and out from request timed out or Destination Unreachable
once server boots up, it replies ok

so answers:

Request Time Out usually means that the other side is not available (down). It could also mean that you are not connected to your network for some reason. (Usually a problem with the client or Server or its settings)

Destination Unreachable usually means the routing is not correct for some reason. Either router misconfiguration or some router lost connectivity and your packets cant find their way to the final destination. (Usually a problem with a router or router setting)

do not really apply
