The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Cannot log onto router - IP conflict?

Asked by robsamuel2k8 in TCP/IP, Wireless Network Access Points, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)

Hi,

We have a network of about 30 PCs, which run through a broadband link (via a symantec security gateway). Our current Linksys Wireless Access Point went pop the other day and my director brought in a Belkin N1 Wireless Modem-Router. It's a cracking little box and the software seems easy to use.

Here's the scenaro:

1. I hard-reset the box and plug it directly into my laptop for config purposes
2. I can log in to the router through 192.168.2.1 (Default IP for Belkins)
3. Once logged in, I set the SSID, add a key and set up MAC address access info.
4. I set the IP address to 192.168.1.20 (to fall in line with our network, this IP address is available).
5. When I restart the router and plug it into the network it works on the wireles side of things but I am   unable to access the settings via 192.168.1.20.
6. When I do ipconfig /all, the default gateway refers to the symantec box. I've tried several IP addresses and cannot get in.
7. However, the box seems operational as I can use the wireless from a laptop/PDA
