It's not a book.. to understand how to do it without a program you need to basically know it all.. It's like algebra.. you have to learn it but once you leave high school you have calculators and such to do it all for you. This is probably one of the worst parts of networking to learn. Big thing you need to make sure is not to question why it works.. just know that it works. People who want to know the details of why get lost in the whys and always fail the hows.
