Or keep it simple..... just click on Start and type: File Type and select "Set your Default Programs" or "Make a File Type allways....."
I changed my DLL in windows 7 by mistake to open with notepad, how do I change it back to the windows 7 default for .dll?
I think this is a reg file.

Better yet - right click on the file and choose "Open With" (Shift Right click if it doesn't show up) - From there select Choose Program.
If the program you are looking for isn't listed, use Browse to locate it. Finally - make sure you check the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file". This will change the file associations for this particular file type.

open regedit and navigate to:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROO\.dll\
there should be a OpenWithList key, delete it
you sould also check:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software
