Can a laptop be configured with different profiles for the LAN? For example I need to use static IP address in the office (without a router) and dynamic when I travel or at home. Don't want to go in details but a router is not a solution at the moment.
And if this is not possible, can I configure the docking station with a Static IP address and the laptop with a dynamic? And when in the office to just plug the LAN cabel to the docking station. For some reason the hardware profile doesn't work for this model - so I have to use only one profile. I believe the docking station has it's own LAN card which can be configured with static IP while the laptop remains with dynamic - is that true?

You could try getting a product like netswitcher that allows you to create "profiles" and then easily change between them. /

Another way of doing this would be to set up an alternate connection in windows. this may be your best bet as it is specifically desgined for the situation your talking about.
