switch working but can't ping or telnet

we have a 2980 switch on our network which seems to be running fine at the moment.However we can not telnet in or even ping the switch. There are no connectivity problems with the computers connected to that switch.At this time the hyperterminal on my laptop does not work so I cannot console in. The fans on the switch seem to be running fine.What could be the issue?Start Free Trial
