I am trying to assist my uncle who is around the other side of the world on how do setup a simple program on his new computer. I told him how to send me a remote assistance request through Windows XP, but it did not want to connect when I tried to open the file which comes with the request. I am using Windows Vista and am a good 20,000 km away.
Then I tried to instruct him to download Real VNC, a free remote control program. However has he's going through a wireless router in the building he's in, the VNC program is giving him a local IP 192.168.0.100. So I could not connect. I got his IP address from a recent email and it also did not let me connect.
Can somebody tell me how to connect? Keeping in mind he's a beginner and I am experienced but a novice when it comes to networking. Thanks.
