No internet connection

I can not connect to the internet via explorer or firefox. I installed vista and it was working perfectly then suddenly it wouldn't connect to the internet. I uninstalled vista, clean reinstalled xp and still no connection.
I'm using a wireless router and the connection to the router is working fine.
I looked in the event viewer and saw this warning message: The server could not bind to the transport\Device\NetBt_Tcpip{CB99A679C22143B3AF2EA18CB48E979D
......I have no idea what that means..........
If someone out there thinks they know how to repair this please let me know.  
also I checked ipconfig/all and found the IP routing and WINS proxy disabled ...not sure if that means anything...
