The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. all in/out bound HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP traffic is blocked without reason.

I have 2 Windows XP systems which inexplicably have closed off all inbound and outboard http/https and ftp traffic.

Their internal windows firewalls are forced off by domain security policy, and the other 30 systems on the domain are not having an issue.

I can ping thier def. gateway, and any other system on the network. Can't ping anything outside. DNS settings appear correct, and the DNS settings are duplicated on 28 other systems without error.

On one system last night we were able to do a system restore to achieve internet functionality, and in our elation we forgot to disable the patch server.. the system updated, and now we're back at square one, without internet connectivity, and now without the ability to do a system restore.

I've dissected the domain security policies, I've stripped off every program that might be getting in the way of system restore, I've done a winsock repair/reset, and i've gone through every element of the local network connection settings I could get my hands on.

I'm at my wits end.

HELP!!!
