Dynamic IP address vpn setup (Is it possible?)

I would like to set up a vpn with me win 2k server. It has DSL access to the internet but its dynamic. Can i create a VPN with this dynamic setup? If so what are the tools i would need? Hopefuly as inexpensive as possible

thanks

Hi jonnydollar,
When you say dynamic, does it mean that the router has a different IP address every time?

Use something like TZO, so that you have a fixed host name, even if yuo don;t have a fixed IP.  There will be short "outages" of about 15 minutes every time yur ISP changes your IP address, but that probably happens either once a day or once a week.

qwaletee is correct, use a dynamic DNS provider. A list of commonly used ones are here.

http://www.dhs.org
http://www.dyndns.org
http://www.dyns.cx
http://hn.org
http://www.no-ip.com
http://www.zoneedit.com
http://www.dns2go.com

no-ip.com and dns2go.com are used by me and my circle of friends, have free offerings and i know from experience that no-ip's update is extremely fast. You just run a little app on your 2K server (assuming it's directly connected) and your sorted.

Router-wise i'd recommend IPcop http://www.ipcop.org as it's an extremely easy to install and use router/firewall, it supports passing thru PPTP for VPN and also will register itself on the above services without needing to run their apps. It requires a very low spec standalone machine (P133+ 32MbRAM 500Mb HDD), oh and it's free...
