Sharing printers across the network

Have you tried sharing the printer on the local machine that it is attached to?

Once this is done, it should work.

I'm not sure if it is different then a 2000 AD though.

Just wondering if you have the security setup on the share of the printer correctly.  Go to Sharing for the printer and check to make sure you have given access to the required people on the W2K client that is hosting the printer.  Try that if you haven't already done so.  There shouldn't be any reason you can't connect and print to a printer that is on your network no matter which computer it is connected to as long as the sharing and security are correct.

You might want to try posting this in one of the Networking TAs dedicated to microsoft - you'll likely find more numerous responses.

Seems like others have the same problem.

On the client PC I've selected publish to AD under sharing, but perhaps I need to do some configuration in AD on the server as described here: http://win2k.ucsd.edu/sub/share-printers-9x.html

I found that the user on the PC with the printer was logged in locally. Once logged into the domain the printer was available.
