MSN Messenger Error.

Hi guys,

Okay, before I get started, here's my machine/network details:
-I'm on a LAN, we share the connection, and I'm NOT the ICS host. (Ethernet: 10/100mbps)
-At the MOMENT, we've turned off all firewalls (except the XP firewall, which is on the ICS Host machine).
-3 clients on the LAN, connected by a hub. Currently though, only two clients are connected and using the LAN (one of which is mine).
-The internet connection: 56K dial-up (ISP: NTL).  (broadband isn't offered in our area! :( ).
-The ICS host can use the internet fine, with NO problems at all. (Unlike myself).
-All machines are WinXP home ed.  My machine previously had SP2 installed, but I found that it was causing FAR too many problems, so I uninstalled it, via 'Add/Remove Programs'... Perhaps this is related?
-I also USED to have Mozilla installed. Which I blamed for some of these problems, and thus uninstalled it also.

Here's one of many problems I'm having at the moment:

I cannot sign into MSN Messenger, whereas, my brother (the ICS host) can!
When I attempt to log in, it starts trying to log in for a little while, then I get an error message, saying:

"The was a problem connecting you to MSN Messenger. Click Troubleshoot for help with this problem.
Error Code: 0x81000365"

I often get this, HOWEVER, every now and then it signs in fine, despite me not doing ANYTHING different (to my knowledge).

So, what's going on here?
I'm about to post another question about an internet problem I'm having, which is probably linked to this. So, I will post the link to that Q here so that you can evaluate that also, if you'd like :)

Thank you in advance all!

Yeah, I'm aware of the MSN servers being down; they were upgrading them apparently. However, once that was complete, (my bro could sign in on the ICS host), I still had problems.

I found though, (I've only tried this once, so it's not definite), however, on both my machine and the ICS host, I r-clicked the network icon, and selected "Repair". After that, I could use the internet fine on my machine. :o\

>"Messenger uses your Internet Explorer settings, can you browse using IE ok at present?? If not then there's the problem."
Yeah, whenever I have problems with MSN, I also have the IE problems. So, you'd appear to be correct.

So, let's continue this discussion in my other thread: https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/21165284/Internet-Problem.html

Whoever solves it though, will also get all the points from this Q (as well as the points on the other). :)

Thanks,
