(increase to 500pts if solved in 30 mins) I have troubles using DHCP on with WEP

Oke this is a followup on https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/21386236/increase-to-500-pts-if-solved-in-30min-Wireles-WEP-key-mismatch-problem.html

I have managed configuring my web so i have connection to my access point.

I am running an access point linked trough a 8 port switch to my linux pc, where a DHCP server is running.

This DHCP server successfully asigns the settings to the AP

and when i turn off WEP encryption it also successfully assigns the settings to my laptop

Strangely when i set up WEP which is told to be ok by the driver of my PCMCIA card.
i get not assigned an ip address from DHCP.

Anyone an idea how that could be

running ipconfig /renew, will result in cannot reach DHCP server..

your AP needs to be configured in bridge mode. Most probably its in routing/nat-mode right now.

neteducation, how can it work without wep then, thats also nat right?

eatmeimadanish,
the utility that came with my network card says i am associated and it will only let me
enter UPPERCASE

and as fax as i know HEX is not case sensitive i type in the hexvalue.. not
the humanreadable passphrase.
did you check your route tables  I think you have to define the default gateway 'route add default gw 192.168.0.1' type route to see the current table, and man route for additional info.  I've had that problem before where I couldn't reach the dhcp server (a wireless ap) seperately from the wired netgear router it was attached too.
Arosbor yes i did check my routing tables,

they are all fine and the gateway etc is all defined by DHCP,
i know how to set it up

and indeed eatmeimadanish was read my software says it was associated but i put an other of the 4 keys in my laptop driver and it worked,

set it back and the problem occured again so looks like a bug in software of win2k/linksys driver.

thanks again eatmeimadanish
Then you are not associating properly with your AP. Have you tried the windows association method?
Oh awesome.  Cool.  You got it working.
