I can dial up and connect to web OK. But no web page displayed (with a twist)

Hi,
Another simple problem.
I can dial up and connect to web OK. But no web page displayed. The old cannot find page etc. Ok without changing any settings using a different login name and password everything works fine.
Both accounts have been confirmed and are active. The faulty account has been renewed because previous account was not being validated by isp server.(bigpond).so new account new password etc. Ive flushed and renewed dns no success. One other thing the faulty account initially worked after being set up but problem occured a few hours later. But still the other account works. Im thinking as I m writing this that perhaps there is a nasty onboard. But then why is one successful and othernot. Because the successful account was created yonks ago. I dunn perhaps there is a glich in the new connection wiz or something.
HijackThis didnot show anything
Any help Out there
Cheers and thanks

Perhaps it is still a DNS issue.
Try connecting to   http://64.233.187.99/    (Goggle)
If successful it is a DNS issue, we can then pursue from there.
Next step would be to post here, the results of IPconfig  /all

I cant get on the troublesome pc at the moment. I remember I could telnet the isp mail server btw. But if it was a local dns issue how come one account is successful. Can there be a dns issue attached to just one user name and not the other.  I m not trying to be a smarta**e           am genuinely intersted
Cheers

Correct, you will need to add DNS settings in the TCP/IP properties for that connection, try that first.  But you might also have to rebuild the networking under that user profile, it might be fouled up.  That means deleting all the network protocols under that user login, rebooting, and reinstalling them all, then also putting in DNS entries into the TCP properties of the dial up connection.  The DNS servers are assigned by the ISP you connect to, they can tell you that.
Took all advice on board. I discovered that auto dns assigned different primary ip address to that given out by ISP . Manually configured dns settings. Presto it worked! *&**#$@!!!
I dont believe it though -----because the "good" account (and im only talking isp account not xp account--always been only one xp account) was also using the different DNS server. I have just gotta accept I guess that the fault was with one of the isp's dns.
Cheers and thanks
DNS will get you every time.
>>"I guess that the fault was with one of the isp's dns."
Were they different service providers? Maybe one was not handing out DNS IP's via DHCP correctly???
Glad to hear you have resolved.

My ISP sucks for DNS quite a bit too... I'm always calling them out on it. Today's another day that I get to do so... yay!
Thanks LeighJor,
