IEEE1394 Networking problem

Hi

I am having the same problem as in -https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/21541029/Problem-with-TCP-IP-on-IEEE-1394-in-Windows-XP.html .I uninstalled the network adaptor from the Device Manager, ran the command netsh int ip reset and netsh winsock reset catalog and restarted my computer.

In my case, the status window still shows the error TCP/IP not enabled for this connection.

I am trying to network my laptop with Desktop and my video camera connects properly to PC through this card-eliminating card/cable problem.

In TCP/IPproperties of the adaptor, the IP/subnet mask are visible.

Can anyone advise me how to resolve this problem?
Thanks
Chari

when you restarted the system did Windows automatically detect the firewire connection and load a driver?  Have to checked to see  if there's an updated driver available for your firewire card?
I would also suggest that this persons problem could have been intermittent problem with the firewire card and that they eventually had to replace it...
Does your camera communicate via tcp/ip or some other protocol?

Did Windows automatically detect the firewire connection and load a driver?
Yes
Have to checked to see  if there's an updated driver available for your firewire card?
Yes.No updated driver
Does your camera communicate via tcp/ip or some other protocol?
No.Moreover,I dont know how that is done.
Thanks for your prompt response
Chari
remove the IEEE 1394 adapter and clear the cmos ( bios) program of your motherboard then install on different PCI port  & configure the card and also cehck the troubleshooting from Microsoft..

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314873
Any software solutionplease.
Chari, you need not have to do tcpip interface reset for enabling you to download the images in your video camera. whatever the post you mentioned, is to enable network communication between firewire ports. Here the firewire would detect your video camera as mass storage device and give you drive icon under removable disks (double click my computer). Have you tried installing driver that comes along with the video recorder CD in your laptop instead of windows detected one?
Hi.i am also ytring to network laptop and Desktop.I dont have any problem  connecting my video camera. My video camera has no special  driver and it has nothing to do with my current problem
well you could download all spyware removals and their updates and try running them... could be some sort of spyware... download 'adaware se',  spybot s&d, and hijackthis.... after you run the first two, run hijackthis and post log file here.
No spyware/virus since I have NAV 2004,Adaware,Spybot,Spyware blaster and windows defender installed.Online test from Trend/Symantec is also done regularly.
Will try Hijackthis tonight and post the log

I would remove the above entry, but don't see anything in your hijack this that is particularly troublesome.  There are a few things that would make the machine run smoother, but that's not the problem you are here for... I'm afraid kadadi_v's suggestion would be the next step.
There are a few things that would make the machine run smoother

Can you advise?
A lot of it is opinionated.  I like to run a clean machine, or as clean as possible... they run and start up faster that way.  I would run msconfig, and go the startup tab and turn off anything that doesn't have to be running, then run hijack this again,

I don't care much for the functionality of MS Defender, and it seems to slow some stuff down, so I would uninstall that.
Hope this helps....
Make sure there is not another network access device that has TCPIP deselected on it. If you disable TCP IP for one connection in XP it disables TCP IP for all connections.
The Lan card is active since it is used for internet connection(DSL)
Thanks to all of you for your help.I finally managed to connect my Laptop to Desktop by uninstalling TCP/IP(Found a site which listed the method of uninstalling TCP/IP that is normally not possible in Win XP( other than deselecting TCP/IP)) ,netbios over TCP,ARP driver ,uninstalling 1394 adapte,Host controller and starting the setup from scratch.
